Chenai: Retail players, especially in e-commerce, are looking for new talent. As retailers adapt to pandemic-induced changes in the industry, they find a flexible young talent base at their fingertips.
According to Team-Lease, employment growth in essential retail services, which stood at 37% in the first quarter, increased to 48% in the second quarter and employment growth was largely led by beginners. Similarly, a 25% increase in intention to hire e-commerce entry-level employees was observed for July-December 2021.
“The pandemic has created a new retail shopping experience that is driving increased jobs and opportunities for first-timers and new entrants. Latest trends such as contactless engagements, building ubiquitous channels, shifting to shopping marketing, one-to-one marketing and increased in-store purchases are leading to increased hiring of these profiles in the retail segment,” said Munira Loli-wala, AVP, TeamLease Digital.
In e-commerce, online merchant, internet sales associate, marketer, and social media associate are the most in-demand new roles.
“We are seeing momentum in freshman hiring this time around – part of that is due to pent-up demand and the rest is due to market optimism. Organizations have also realized that there becoming increasingly difficult to hire and retain full-backs due to their high expectations when changing jobs and very high attrition,” said Shantanu Rooj, CEO and Co-Founder of TeamLease Edtech.
“Therefore, organizations are looking to build their sustainable talent supply chains by hiring and training new graduates with promising skills. Organizations are looking for entry-level people with good analytical, logical and problem-solving skills,” said he added.
