Average earnings – excluding bonuses – of full-time employees engaged in wholesale and retail trade increased 3.9% year-on-year to MOP 13,980 (USD 1,734) at the end of last year compared to compared to June 2021, according to data released today by the Bureau of Statistics and Census (DSEC).
The DSEC released the Labor Needs and Wages Survey results for the fourth quarter of 2021, covering wholesale and retail trade; Transportation, Storage & Communications; Security activities and public sanitation and garbage disposal activities.
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, the number of people engaged in wholesale and retail trade decreased by 1.7% year-on-year to 62,624; of these, 39,417 were engaged in retail trade.
At the end of 2021, the average earnings of full-time employees in the transport, storage and communications sector fell by 2.0% year-on-year to MOP 21,390, while employees in security activities fell 2.2% year-on-year. -year at MOP13,580.
Employees of public sewerage and waste disposal activities, meanwhile, saw their average earnings for full-time employees in December fall 3.6% year-on-year to MOP 18,020.
