Many well-known retailers will announce their quarterly reports
As we continue through May, there continues to be plenty of economic data on the record. Next week, investors will be watching the Empire State’s manufacturing index and retail sales data. Earnings season is winding down, however, there are still a handful of notable reports, particularly from major retailers. Bath & Body Works (BBWI), BJ Wholesale (BJ), Cisco Systems (CSCO), Deere (DE), Foot Locker (FL), JD.com (JD), Kohl’s (KSS), Macy’s (M), Target (T), Walmart (WMT) are all ready to announce their quarterly reports.
Below is a list of key market events scheduled for the coming week. All economic dates listed below are tentative and subject to change.
Monday May 16 starts slow, with only the Empire State manufacturing index.
tuesday may 17 will bring retail sales, industrial production index, NAHB homebuilder index and business stocks.
Wednesday May 18building permits and housing starts should be published.
The Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index is due on Thursday May 19, as well as regular data on initial and continuing unemployment insurance claims. Existing home sales data is also available.
The week is slowing down Friday, May 20, with no notable economic data expected.
