Jaanika Tiigiste, chief analyst at Statistics Estonia, said of the data that: “The increase in turnover in September was most influenced by shops selling manufactured goods, where turnover increased 28% compared to September 2020”.
Year-on-year revenue growth stood at 9% in August but accelerated in September, she added.
Online and mail-order stores saw the strongest growth, at 49%, among stores selling manufactured goods, while stores selling housewares and appliances, hardware and building materials grew. also recorded an above-average growth rate of 35%.
Grocery store sales were up 6% year-on-year through September, and 7% at companies engaged in automotive fuel retailing.
Between August and September this year, the turnover of retail businesses increased by 3%, or 6% according to data adjusted for seasonal variations and working days.
From January to September 2021, the turnover of retail businesses increased by 11% year on year.
