Annual revenue growth was 8% in January but slowed in February, Statistics Estonia analyst Johanna Linda Pihlak said in a news release. Sales increased at automotive fuel retail businesses as well as grocery stores and stores selling manufactured goods.

“The strongest growth was recorded in companies engaged in automotive fuel retailing, where revenue increased 10% compared to February 2021,” Pihlak said. “The increase in turnover was 4% in stores selling manufactured goods and 2% in grocery stores.”

Among stores selling manufactured goods, the strongest growth at 15% was recorded in the turnover of stores selling second-hand goods and in non-store retail, such as stalls, markets and sales. direct. Sales increased by 13% in pharmacies and stores selling cosmetics, by 5% in stores selling household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials, and by 5% in other non-specialty stores selling mainly manufactured goods, i.e. department stores.

The turnover of stores selling by mail order or via the Internet decreased by 5%, and the turnover of stores selling textiles, clothing and footwear fell by 1%.

Year on year, sales in February remained stable in other specialized stores, mainly selling computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games and toys.

Compared to January, the turnover of retail trade enterprises in February fell by 9%. According to data adjusted for seasonal variations and working days, sales decreased by 2% for the month.
