Month-over-month retail trade rose 1.4% in Saskatchewan, the highest in the country
Saskatchewan once again leads the country in a key economic indicator.
From March 2022 to April 2022, the value of retail trade in Saskatchewan increased by 1.4% (seasonally adjusted), the largest increase among the provinces.
“Saskatchewan’s retail sector is a vital part of our provincial economy, providing much-needed goods, services and jobs,” said Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison. “Year-to-date, Saskatchewan has consistently ranked in the top three provinces for annual retail sales growth, reflecting the continued strength of our economy.”
Between April 2021 and April 2022, the value of retail trade in Saskatchewan increased by 7.0% (seasonally adjusted), the second highest increase among the provinces.
As of April 2022, the total retail value in Saskatchewan exceeded $2 billion.
Saskatchewan has also led the country in several other important economic indicators recently. In March 2022, year-over-year manufacturing sales rose 44.6%, the largest increase among any province. In April 2022, wholesale trade year-over-year rose 29.4% and urban housing starts rose 43.6%, respectively the first and third highest increases in the country .
