Johanna Linda Pihlak, an analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that compared to July last year, turnover increased by 2% in shops selling manufactured goods and by 1% in businesses selling goods. automotive fuel detail.
“Grocery store sales continued to decline in July and fell 2% year on year,” Pihlak added.
Among stores selling manufactured goods, the largest increase was recorded in the turnover of other non-specialty stores selling mainly manufactured goods, i.e. department stores, whose turnover increased increased by 9% compared to July 2021.
Turnover increased by 8% in second-hand shops and non-store retail (stalls, markets, direct sales), by 6% in pharmacies and cosmetics stores, by 3% in other specialized stores mainly selling computers and their accessories, books, sporting goods, games, toys, etc. and 2% in stores selling by mail order or on the Internet.
Sales fell 2% at stores selling housewares and appliances, hardware and building materials. In stores selling textiles, clothes and shoes, turnover remained at the same level as in July last year.
Compared to June, the turnover of businesses in the retail trade increased by 1% in July. According to data adjusted for seasonal variations and working days, turnover remained the same as the previous month.
In the first seven months of 2022, the turnover of retail businesses increased by 6% compared to the same period of 2021.
