OFFPRICE in Vegas rallies the retail sector

The retail industry event hosted by Tarsus, the OFFPRICE Show, held at The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, February 13-16, was another illustration of a growing trend toward the revitalization of in-person events. Buyers were present from many countries.

“We have seen over the past year that live events, held safely, play a vital role in the retail space. The positive momentum is certainly with the industry. With three shows completed in one year, we are seeing the number of attendees and exhibitors increase each time,” said OFFPRICE show executive director Tricia Barglof,

“We are learning to navigate this new landscape as well as possible; how to maintain the human link in commerce; how to take advantage of the technological advances created through quarantine, and how to maintain and create vital connections for business,” Barglof said, adding that the latest edition of Vegas was nearly 25% larger than the August 2021 show. “The increased purchase volume seen on the floor showed attendees were without any doubt there to do business.”

Exhibitor Wayne Cloth said, “We used to exhibit at other Las Vegas Fashion Week shows, but now here we are, drafting orders from start to finish.”

Audrey Taylor, Head of Global Retail, said: “The news and uncertainty in the supply chain created a lot of curiosity and eagerness to see what products and offers were available at OFFPRICE. Many retailers are changing their strategies due to changing demographics and shopping habits as a result of the pandemic, so they come to our show to develop relationships with new suppliers. We saw specific growth in interest from retailers in South America and Mexico wanting to source from the United States and we were delighted to welcome a strong international presence at the February 2022 show.”

Organizers say future OFFPRICE shows will prepare for an influx of products from overseas due to improvements in shipping and the reopening of factories after the pandemic. They also predict a high volume of off-price goods seeking to be sold at a lower cost.

The OFFPRICE show takes place every two years in Las Vegas, in February and August during Fashion Week. The show targets a variety of businesses, from small business owners to retailers to national chain stores.
