Bulgaria’s retail sales rose 5.7% year-on-year in April, following a 9.6% rise the previous month, according to figures from the Sofia-based National Institute of Statistics (INS).
It was the smallest increase in retail trade since February last year, with sales of motor fuel having slowed markedly by 9.7% and non-food products by 10%, in particular computers, peripherals, software and telecommunications equipment (6.1%).
In addition, retail sales via mail-order houses or via the Internet fell sharply, by 5%.
On a monthly basis, retail sales fell 0.8%, compared to a downwardly revised increase of 1.9% the previous month.
